Default Dad friendly changing Rooms

I have on a few occasions now found it difficult to find a baby changing room for my twins. Still in this day and age changing facilities are still in the ladies toilets.

I was in James hospital Dublin recently and it took a security guard about 20mins to find me a facilities to change my babies because all the changing units are in ladies toilets. All I got was a plastic chair in a disabled toilet for a modern hospital this is a disgrace.

This is not the only place I have had problems it happens all the time. I unfortunately and certainly not by choice have to use my car to change my babies a lot of the time.

Have any other dads found changing facilities dad unfriendly?

I have mostly found that the baby change facilities accessible to men is in the disabled toilet. This would not normally be a problem but in a lot of cases I have found the door locked. Obviously to prevent all those wheelchair bound vandals causing damage?!

On a couple of occasions I have just used the facilities in the ladies toilet, after knocking of-course. After-all it is not as if there would be anyone in there proceeding with "business" at an open urinal.

I was only asked to "get out" once by a security guard and I did, but after I had changed the nappy. He stood in the doorway until I had finished, holding the door open, I assume to prevent me from offending anyone?

You could always do it on the counter top or in the middle of the retail area. It would be a cool way of making your point!!

I was in the Mac in Dublin the other day and the baby changing facilities are in the disabled toilets and were locked so I asked the security guard if he could unlock it and he refused to open the door and told me that he was to busy

He was just standing in front of the door waching the very few customers eat, the place was basicly empty at 9 am so how can that be busy?
Unfortunately after a very long night, and being stuck for changing space I let my temper get the best of me and changed my 6 month old daughter on one of the tabels.

Not good of me to let my temper get the best of me but You should have seen security guard face

Good for you Jim. You should have asked him to hold the soiled nappy so that "you didn't have to put it on a table". Se how quick the jobsworth twat would have found a key then!!

Default Mothers Rule!

I was in the Eyre Square Shopping Centre in Galway recently. Saw a directional sign for Toilets and Mothers Room! Who designs or signs off on these things?

Never heard of a Mothers Room , but had a google and it could it be a place mum can breastfeed or pump , next to changing the baby.
