Default New House

Hi lads

Got a problem which I need help with.

We want to move from Dublin northside to better area and the opportunity came up recently and we started looking for properties. We found a property in Meath 4 bed detach 1600 plus sq ft etc for a 1/3 of original asking price and I put in a bid of just over a 100k and it was excepted (bank repo ).

My beautiful head wrecking partner has now decided she doesn't like it. I cannot believe the change of heart considering what we are surrounded by at moment and the fact that are kids are starting school in just over a years time.

I feel so peed off by it that I feel like buying the house for myself and leaving her here.

Ok how do go about without arguing trying to persuade it is best for our kids?

Fed Up Dad

Both of you need to sit down, preferably where there are no distractions pull out the blank sheet of paper and list the positive and negatives of both locations / houses.

If you got as far as your offer being accepted then it sounds like your better half was in on the decision right up to this point and then it seems like a bit of cold feet - which is understandable really when it comes to big life decisions such as moving house.

If the better half has family / close friends living near to her at the mo then this could prove to be difficult. But again, take this factor on the chin, as in a crisis, a reliable family member or pal living nearby can be a godsend.

If you are adamant about selling / moving why not rent in the area first, this is something we did, and we were very glad we did, had we settled on 'in the country' I feel we would have made a big mistake.

BTW, without being biased, 100k for a detached 4 bed in Meath - sounds very sweet, I can understand your frustration!!

Best of luck, AR

Default Things on track thank god

Well boys you may love this or hate this but Dublin girls love to be close to ma's and we would be 45 minutes from her mum rather then 1hr 45 still far enough . I think you were right it was just nerves we are on course for the move just waiting for all the legal stuff to sort itself out. We are renting our house here aswell but that was always on the plans as we cannot afford to sell that either.

Kid names put down in local school just need to find a pre school if anyone knows one around killucan/ rathwire area?

I know I am always being called a bogger up here but have my eye on a polytunnel aswell country life cant wait

Later boys keep the faith
